📞 Hello? Hello, hello? I (Bonnie) wanted to record a message for you to help you get settled in on your first night of finals…
Luckily for you, FSU Libraries has you covered for your five-night shifts of finals. Make sure to stop by Strozier Libraries to help with your studying, 24 hours a day during the final week, or our Sister Location Dirac Science Library, from 8 AM to 1 AM during finals. Stay calm and follow my instructions on how to complete these Five Nights of Finals! 🕹️ 🔦⋆。° ✮
▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄ TIP #1: PRINTING ▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄
You can’t hide from printing that resume for your interview (which hopefully isn’t for a night guard position at Freddy’s). Don’t worry — printing is available at the FSU Libraries for a small fee of 10 cents for black and white printing or 25 cents for color printing. You can run to one of our computers and send your documents to print!
Now, don’t get jump-scared by your FSUCash balance. Make sure you have money loaded into your account before printing! If you have any issues with printing, please reach out to the Office of Business Services at (850) 644-7777 or obs@fsu.edu.
▀▄▀▄▀▄ Tip #2: Book a Study Room Ahead of Time ▀▄▀▄▀▄
Have this urge to study but got no time to wait for a study room? Don’t worry! You can book certain study rooms ahead of time on the FSU Libraries website. Individual study rooms at Strozier are first-come first-serve, and individual study rooms at Dirac can be booked in advance for up to 4 hours at a time! Group study rooms can be reserved ahead of time at Strozier for 2 hours at a time, and at Dirac for 4 hours at a time. Now, book that study room and springlock in!
▀▄▀▄▀▄ Tip #3: USE the Ask-Us Chat ▀▄▀▄▀▄
Got a question? Use the Ask-Us chat if you need help! Chat live with a library employee (not an AI chat-bot!) who can help you find information on a certain topic, journal citations, phone numbers, definitions, and more. Can’t Wait to Meet You! Let’s get friendly: Ask Us!

▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄ Tip #4: Research Guides ▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄
There’s no time for introductions, follow our instructions for our research guides! Do you have a final paper coming up? Use our resources to help you find the correct primary resources and information to curate a great research-focused paper or project. Explore each of our different subjects to make sure you know your lore! Visit our research guides here: Research Guides
▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄ Tip #5: Citation Guide ▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄
Do you need help with your citations? My voice just wants to lead you to the FSU Libraries’ Citation Guide! You’ll find resources for MLA, APA, and Chicago styles of citation, along with tutorials for different citation management programs like Zotero, Mendeley, and EndNote Basic. You don’t have to stress anymore about your citations—you can hold onto sanity! Visit our citation guide here: Citation Guide
▀▄▀▄▀▄ Tip #6: Finding & Requesting Books ▀▄▀▄▀▄
Want Help? With UBorrow+ and Interlibrary Loan, you can easily check out and request materials beyond FSU libraries! UBorrow+ will allow you to request and loan books from across different universities and libraries, to make sure you get the resources you need. With the global Interlibrary Loan service, searching for and borrowing materials has never been easier. We’re waiting every night, to finally loan and invite.

▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄ Tip #7: Time Management ▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄
Don’t leave all the studying and work for Night 5, or you might struggle to beat it! Start planning all of your different assignments, exams, and projects in advance to avoid working from 12am to 6am each night. Having a designated planner is the key to beating your five nights of finals! Key tips that we here at FSU Libraries have are to block your calendar and set certain times of the day for yourself to study and do your work. Make sure you get at least 7-8 hours of sleep each night and are able to have meals throughout the day! Pack yourself snacks (maybe even treat yourself to pizza and cupcakes) to keep you going throughout your study shifts! This way, you won’t get quirky at night.
▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄ Tip #8: Stay Calm! ▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄
Finals week can be stressful. Speaking of stress, you know who was definitely stressed? The night guard! From outside the office door, I always heard him practicing 4-7-8 breathing. How? Inhale for four seconds through your nose, hold your breath (keeping your composure) for seven seconds, and then exhale through your mouth for eight seconds. The night guard’s heart rate and breathing slowed after he did that a few times. I also noticed that he kept some fidget toys on his desk. Use the method that works best for you, so you can stay calm!
I hope you feel prepared for the Five Nights of Finals. The FSU Libraries are always here to support you throughout the week ahead and believe that you can successfully complete all five nights. Now, listen close. I have an even better tip for you, viewer. Don’t respond to Craigslist ads! No matter how desperate you are for a job (which I know many of you are), never work at Freddy’s — it might even be scarier than finals week.
