On March 27, 2025, FSU Libraries will host the Digital Research Incubator in the Bradley Reading Room in Strozier Library. The event will last from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, with lunch provided for those in attendance.
Digital Research Incubator is a program that supports the creation and development of digital humanities and scholarship projects. Students who apply are enrolled in a year-long curriculum in which they hone their skills in digital humanities, apply for grants, and begin development on their individual projects. Recently, this program has included funding for participants to help push their projects along, whether it be for attending conferences or acquiring vital software.
Projects fueled by the Digital Research Incubator have gone on to make notable contributions to the academic community. Dr. Lindsey Eckert, tenured professor of English, noted that the Digital Research Incubator was, “[I]mportant for fostering a sense of scholarly community. I met researchers in other departments doing similar and related work, and I am not sure how I would have otherwise established these connections that will continue beyond the program itself.”
In addition to the graduate students, Digital Research Incubator will also host up to twenty professors, acting as plus-ones for their respective students. This will be an excellent opportunity for both; students will get to demonstrate the fruits of their labors to several experts and professors will be able to provide relevant feedback and suggestions.
