Florida State Open Publishing: International Journal for Creativity Inside
Florida State Open Publishing recently added a new title to its growing collection of open access journals: International Journal for Creativity Inside (IJCI), an open access, peer-reviewed journal that centers the role of creativity and artistic practice within carceral settings and brings together perspectives from scholars, practitioners, and people who have been imprisoned. They publish theoretical, practice-based, and empirical research, practitioner-centered narratives, creative works, and reviews that engage with the role of art, art therapy, and creativity within the prison system.
Their inaugural issue takes both a foundational and a global perspective on carceral systems, offering insight into the role of art, landmark studies and books related to the discipline, and practitioner-research on arts-based programming across different countries. Celebrating Our Librarians: Dr. Leah Sherman
FSU Libraries is celebrating a significant professional achievement by Dr. Leah Sherman, Visual & Performing Arts Librarian, who has been elected to Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect of the Arts Section of the Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL).
This national leadership position recognizes Leah’s longstanding contributions to arts librarianship and provides an opportunity to help shape conversations around the future of arts scholarship, research support, and academic libraries. Through this role, she will collaborate with colleagues from institutions across the country while bringing new ideas and connections back to FSU.
Leah’s work at FSU spans support for the College of Fine Arts, the FSU Museum of Fine Arts, the Ringling Museum of Art, and the Master Craftsman Studio, making her a vital resource for the university’s creative community.
