FSU Libraries: Q&A With Dean Cooper

Get to know the new Dean of FSU Libraries with this exclusive Q&A!

Q: What is your favorite place in all of Tallahassee?

A: My favorite place in Tallahassee is anywhere I can walk among the southern live oak trees and enjoy the North Florida landscape. One of the best parting gifts I received from a friend in Virginia is a Florida state parks annual pass. My goal is to visit at least one park each month of 2026!

Q: What are you most looking forward to as the new Dean of FSU Libraries?

A: I am looking forward to being part of the FSU community and all that it entails- new friends, new colleagues, sporting events, performances.

Q: Broadly speaking, what will your first 100 days as Dean look like?

A: In my first 100 days, I plan to listen, learn, and build relationships.

Q: What are some of your hobbies/interests?

A: I love to cook and travel. Last summer, I traveled with my mom, sister, and nieces to Italy. We spent time in Florence, Rome, and the Amalfi Coast. I added on a week of solo travel to Provence, France.

Q: Is there anything else about yourself that you would like to share?

A: I have a big and close-knit family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces, many of whom live in Florida. I am eager to host my family and friends in my new town.
