Innovating Graduate Education: FSU’s Quality Enhancement Plan

The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is a detailed initiative aimed at improving an aspect of FSU. The current QEP, which has been in effect since 2023 and is estimated to be completed by 2027, focuses on enhancing doctoral-level education. Specifically, it aims to increase scholarly and creative activity among doctoral students and prepare them for the next steps in their academic careers, regardless of their current stage.

As part of this plan, FSU Libraries have organized several workshops to benefit FSU’s doctoral students. These workshops cover topics such as using resource organizing software like Zotero and conducting proper STEM literature reviews. Social Sciences librarian, Dr. Kyung Kim, emphasized the Libraries’ role in graduate education: “Libraries help graduate students to graduate by providing access to research materials and infrastructure, and teaching auxiliary research skills that are often not taught in classrooms.” By incorporating these workshops, FSU Libraries aim to provide valuable resources for doctoral students’ success.

Additionally, FSU Libraries offer a user-friendly webpage that makes accessing these new graduate resources easy. Besides workshops, the Libraries provide a curated selection of eBooks designed to enhance graduate skills, such as presenting research and reaching precise audiences. The page also features eBooks advising graduate students from all fields on achieving success in their chosen career paths.
