Wait…

On Wednesday, October 30, Special Collections is hosting a Halloween-themed open house in the Special Collections reading room at Strozier Library formally known as the Spooky Open House.

Spooky Open House is being held at Strozier Library on Wednesday, October 30, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. During the event, certain Special Collections items that match well with Halloween or macabre aesthetic will be on display. During this time, visitors are encouraged to engage with the various displayed texts and artifacts to learn something new this Halloween season. Among the displays are various grimoires, photographs, manuscripts, and letters, each with a rich history.

Kristin Hagaman, Research Services and Outreach Coordinator for Special Collections had this to say regarding the event: “Delve into spectral sightings, decipher cryptic symbols in ancient texts, and uncover the secrets of history’s most enigmatic figures,” encouraging guests to approach this event with a curious mind.

Spooky Open House is also providing a special activity for its guests in the form of tarot card readings. Hagaman stated that “For those intrigued by mysticism, we’ll also be offering tarot readings to give you a glimpse into the unknown. Whether you’re a ghost hunter, a curious soul, or someone seeking mystical knowledge, our spooky special collections have something captivating for everyone. Come and explore the unknown!”
