In the latest episode of the Get Data Lit! podcast, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Matthew Christoffel , Chair of the Cybersecurity Outreach Club at Florida State University. We explored everything from his journey into computer science to the Cybersecurity Outreach Club’s mission—empowering the community with real-world cybersecurity knowledge.
Matthew shared what it’s like leading a student-run club that bridges the gap between technical depth and accessibility, especially when teaching workshops for people of all ages and backgrounds. We also tackled questions like:
🔹 How do you make cybersecurity less intimidating?
🔹 What threats should everyday people actually worry about?
🔹 How can student-led outreach make a real difference beyond campus?
Whether you’re curious about cybersecurity, want to start your own outreach initiative, or just love hearing stories about tech with purpose, this episode is for you.
