The Pop Lit collection at Strozier Library provides access to newer fiction and nonfiction leisure books and media for all students at Florida State University. Located on the main floor next to the Starbucks Lounge, it’s the perfect place to have a sip and read a book!
The Collection
Short for Popular Literature, Pop Lit has been funded by a variety of sources including the Student Government Association and FSU Libraries. Library staff work together to acquire newly released books, bestsellers, and other popular titles from a range of genres, including: romance, horror, mystery, literary fiction, biographies, true crime, and more. We also have a sizeable collection of popular TV shows and movies on DVD!
You can find more information about the collection and funding on our FAQ page and via our guide to Pop Lit.
If you’re a current FSU student, you can submit book and DVD recommendations for us here: bit.ly/poplitform
Call Numbers
All the books in the Pop Lit collection at Strozier Library are organized by Fiction, Nonfiction, and Graphic Novels. Call numbers are a set of numbers and/or letters that help you locate Pop Lit books based on their genre.
Fiction and nonfiction call numbers in Pop Lit are made of the genre (F or NF) plus the first three letters of an authorโs last name.
Graphic novels, on the other hand, use the Library of Congress classification system. That just means theyโre organized by subject like the general collections at FSU Libraries.
Here are a few examples from the collection:

Title: Finding Me
Author: Viola Davis
Call number: NF Dav

Title: People We Meet on Vacation
Author: Emily Henry
Call number: F Hen

Title: Heartstopper, vol. 1
Author: Alice Oseman
Call number: PZ7.7.O7656 He 2020
Searching for Pop Lit Books
To find a specific book, type the title into the search bar on lib.fsu.edu. Be sure to note its call number and make sure it’s available in the Pop Lit section, like in the example below.
Once you’ve confirmed the book is available and you have the call number, use that information to guide your searching. For instance, if the call number starts with F, head to the Fiction shelves! Feel free to ask a staff member at the Scholar Support Desk desk if you need help (we’re nice, promise).
Maybe you want to find your next book serendipitously. Simply begin browsing the Pop Lit shelves in your preferred genre, or check out our displays and bookmarks at Strozier Library! You can also find tons of reading suggestions right here on our blog.
Once you find your next read, be sure to check it out with your FSU Card at the Scholar Support Desk.
Requesting Books for Pick Up
If you don’t feel like searching through the stacks, simply request the book online for pick up at your preferred library location. Here’s a quick overview of that process:
LEDS Lockers
We also have new LEDS lockers located outside of Strozier and Dirac Science Library, so you can pick up your book 24/7, even when we’re closed!
To use the lockers, choose “Strozier LEDS Lockers” or “Dirac LEDS Lockers” when selecting the “Pick Up Location” from the drop-down menu online. When your books are ready, enter your library card number (from your FSU Card) on the touch screen and retrieve your materials from the open locker!
Whether you find Pop Lit books in the shelves or online, happy reading!
