Nataly Blas received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees here at FSU, in Public Relations and Library Science respectively. Finishing her graduate program in 2012, Nataly moved on to the University of North Carolina, serving as the Diversity Resident Librarian. During the interview process, UNC spoke highly of the various projects she had completed during her time working at FSU Libraries, which made her their top candidate. She remained at UNC for just under two years before becoming the Collection Development Librarian and OER Coordinator at Loyola Marymount University, where she has worked since 2014.
When she was here at FSU Libraries, Nataly worked in the Scholars Commons as a graduate assistant. She looks back at this time fondly, most notably how much the faculty and staff went out of their way to mentor her, continuously drawing attention to features of the Libraries. Not only did this serve to create a more positive working environment, but it also set an incredibly positive example of the impact librarians can have on students. This relationship with full-time faculty and staff helped to build an already-existing foundation of appreciation for the Libraries. Nataly appreciates the Libraries for the flexible hours they provide students with, while giving them real working experience.
