Where Are They Now? Yamilee Francois

Yamilee Francois graduated from FSU in 2009 with a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Social Science. Though, due to the recession, she had a hard time finding a job after graduation, she eventually landed a teaching job. Using the skillsets she picked up from that job, she became the director of technology at a school district in Alaska before ultimately going back to teaching. From there, Yamilee became a corporate trainer working under a federal contract for the Census Bureau. She worked across fourteen different sites around the country. During this time, Yamilee was preparing for the next step in her career: Becoming a training manager, diligently collecting information and strategizing on how to take that next step. After working another federal contract here in Tallahassee and even working as a training manager at FSU, Yamilee came to work as the Senior Change Manager at an undisclosed Fortune 100 company.

Throughout her career, Yamilee has been defined by her proactivity, her refusal to waste any time, always improving herself and keeping an eye on what comes next. She credits her quick thinking and problem solving skills to her time as a student employee at FSU Libraries. Though her initiative predates FSU Libraries, having been hired on the spot after presenting her resume right after moving into the dorms as an undergraduate. She emphasizes to younger people that they need to build up skills early, something that she sees the Libraries as providing an excellent opportunity to do!
